Filled under:

Background
Each platform blog / website has its own characteristics. Similarly Blogger template. There are some special characteristics that determine how the appearance and the structure was built. Understanding these characteristics is a requirement and an important consideration in order to change the template right decision, and the process went smoothly as expected. In this article I will describe some of these tips as well as part of Blogger templates blog to replace precise and efficient.

My article is divided into 2 parts:
  1. Blogger Template Characteristics and Structure and Linkages With SEO
  2. Changing Tips Blog Templates Efficient and Secure (coming soon ...)
Characteristics Blogger Template
As I've mentioned once in the edit template blogger tips, blogger template builder has elements like HTML tags, CSS, Javascript, and XML tags Blogger. All elements are contained in a single XML file format. Thus, all functions builder and design functions in the same file. That's why when you change the template directly, it also changed the structure and the style looks. This is referred to as a template. While known as a theme (eg WordPress theme) consists of several template files, each stand-alone (independent), but affect each other when called in a particular page views.

Special files such as post content, content widgets, and several other specific view is stored directly in the database on the server Blogger. Command performance using special XML tags belonging Blogger. There are some views that can not be set, because it is the default setting by Blogger and we do not have access to the server to edit it. An example is the message status (status message) that appears on the top of the page labels and search, we are only able to hack display status messages, but can not change it.

That's the most important characteristics of the Blogger template, which will be quite influential when you change your blog template.

Structure and SEO Blogger Template
There has been much discourse on which template is SEO friendly and which are not SEO friendly, mostly based on the presence or absence of meta tags (meta description, meta keywords, meta author, etc.). Is this true? Once I saw that said SEO friendly template, after I check, in which only filled by template meta tags are ready to change it. Just that? No. No one can measure the power of SEO a template simply because the use of meta tags and title tags change in the composition alone, but much more important are: STRUCTURE her.

Google search engine, through the GoogleBot and its translation into the index, see the website structure in the end result, without styling, unlike browsers then read and translated so that the structure of HTML CSS then "decorated" and "prepared" by the rules of CSS. Whatever platform web / blog, whatever it is sophisticated, the end result is in the form of HTML. HTML arrangement starting from the top and headed down, not right and left side although it can be written as (to avoid white space and reduce file size). So shall I read it. Search engines ignore javascript, CSS, frames, flash, and the like.
<HTML>
<HEAD>
</ HEAD>
<BODY>
[division multiple tags, span, paragraph, etc. that build the structure and content of the page]
</ BODY>
</ HTML>
All meta information in the head element, and it is clear enough to use. Noteworthy is displayed as part of the page (body tag). In the body element, there are various builders HTML tags, such as division (div), span, and paragraph (p). The logic is read from top to bottom. The more down, the smaller the significance and relevance of the content in the element. Sequence elements that determine the importance of each element.

Tips on Choosing and Using Supporting SEO Blog Templates
From the above discussion where, can I get some points and important tips on selecting a template structure that supports SEO:
1. Search engines measure the importance of a content based on the position of the HTML tag; greater the initial value. Avoid the use of templates that put sidebar in the early position before the container posts, for which read the first part.

2. As a means of navigation, menu elements are usually constructed and placed above or below the header elements (usually within a div), this means that the menu has a significant importance. For visitors, the menu is a navigation tool and exploration. For search engines, the menu is a reference tool towards other inner courtyard, function to reinforce deep linking. If the menu is built using pure javascript or flash, then it certainly will not be read by search engines.

See if the menu is inserted into the template in the form of HTML or javascript / flash, and consider the use of these templates. If you need to replace the Menu HTML and CSS rely on to provide designs and effects. The menu has a good structure will also provide opportunities blog / website you get Google Sitelinks.

3. In addition to the menu, see if most of the widgets and other additional elements into one package with template-generated using javascript. If the widget and other additional elements that are an essential part navigational (such as menus), avoid.

4. Although footer links have value and relevance of the low, because of its position at the bottom, but can be bad if the SEO includes links that are malicious and spammy. There are plenty of free premium templates include a link in the footer. If the website contains links template creator does not matter, it is important and mandatory attribution. But if there are other links as sponsored links, and usually refers to irrelevant websites, affilasi, and websites of questionable quality, it is dangerous. Do not try to remove it, because you will violate the provisions of the template creator and creative commons (attribution) is used. Preferably, do not use templates.

Think Twice Before You Change Template Blog
Advances in technology, especially in web design, we've made it easy to change-change skins, themes, or templates web / blog; easy as turning the palm of your hand! Upload, save, and voila! Blogs have changed appearance (if not destroyed widget, haha). But have you ever thought that there was a large effect, good or bad? note some factual points below:

1. Still related to the structure and SEO, Google has to recognize the structure of your blog and then based on the structural arrangement, both the navigation, content layout, widgets and so forth. If you change the template, then I should try again to recognize the new structure of your blog, and then determine the most important parts back. This process is not fast.

2. If the new blog template has no structural criteria better than the old template, then the effect is necessarily bad for SEO. Blogs can decrease ranking and other consequences. Change the navigation, change fonts, widgets, etc. It can also affect the visitors who have been quite familiar with the structure and appearance of the previous blog.

3. If the goal is the replacement of the blog template to improve the design and structure of the old template, enhance user experience, improve SEO, urgent, and only for one or two times only; proceed. But if only as part of a hobby blog template switching because not stand to see a variety of new templates, or to see the A more interesting template for the A famous blog, think twice, or even 10 times! The popularity and importance of your blog is not determined by just a template, but the content. Flitting blog template also interfere with the process of creating and building an effective blog.

4. Changing continuously templates to structure fickle blog so that search engines "confused" to determine the structure and key elements of your blog. (Further reading: read my article on Web Structure Consistency and SEO).

5. Template includes the branding blog, where often changed, then your blog will not have a brand or identity attached. Determine the most appropriate template, and stick to the template for a long time!

As the bottom line of a blog post about the first part of this template, please be assured that there is no template blog really be said to be SEO friendly, because there are many factors that determine its SEO friendly templates. That escaped us so far is that a blog with his template will be supported by an SEO friendly content. This was the point number one. Therefore, it is necessary that he is not SEO friendly template (but was not), but your ability to create a template to be SEO friendly.

Once there was a couple who asked about the template that I use, since hearing that this template is SEO friendly. Hmmm ... gossip where is it? This template beginning of 2008, no new features, insert tags, or a script that had been prepared for SEO. Initial design was completely raw so had to do a variety of customization. There's also asking how to make it SEO friendly template, is there any special tricks? No one, and all processes are I Geber in SEO tips page.

That's it for today. To be continued ...
